20 Under 20: Dusty & Nat

Yep, you read that right. Nat Young and Dusty Payne have been named to Surfline’s prestigious “20 Under 20″–the top 20 surfers under the age of 20 worldwide (as of January 1, 2008). According to the post on Surfline.com, “Payne dazzled at the U.S. Open in Huntington Beach, belying any rumblings that the kid from Lahaina is a pure Bruce Irons replica and is disinterested with competitive surfing.”
And about Nat: “In line with his recent competitive success, Young has adopted a Fanning-esque aerodynamic haircut, so it’s quite clear…he means business.”
Damn straight!

While we’re on the subject, 6.0 surfers have been killing the contest circuit lately. Nat looks set to move up the rankings after a huge win at the Cold Water Classic, and 6.0 riders swept the podium spots at the Hawaii Pro Jr. recently. That’s right, Dusty has his eyes fixed on the big time after taking the win, with Casey Brown and Kai Barger rounding out the top three. With these results, all four–Nat, Dusty, Casey and Kai–qualified for the World Pro Juniors in Narrabeen, Australia.
6.0 is now set to take on the world. Good luck boys!
